Session

Next-Generation Interconnections for E-Powertrains - From Busbars to Laser Welding with Quality Assurance

Case Study

Thursday, March 26

09:25 am - 09:50 am

Live in Munich

Less Details

The electrification of mobility is reshaping the automotive industry, with reliable power distribution forming a critical element of every electric powertrain. Current developments in interconnection concepts are moving beyond conventional bolted or screwed joints toward busbar-based solutions. Increasing current densities and compact packaging requirements make the design of safe, efficient, and durable connections both a technical and manufacturing challenge. On the production side, laser-based joining technologies are playing an essential role in enabling robust busbar and battery connections. Integrated quality assurance strategies—such as inline sensors, process monitoring, and closed-loop control—are becoming central to ensuring weld reliability and establishing full traceability. Innovations in joining methods, automation, and quality monitoring are redefining electrical interconnections in e-powertrains and are key to achieving scalable and reliable EV production.

In this session you will hear about:

  • Trends and challenges in e-powertrain interconnection and power distribution
  • The shift from screw-based to busbar-based concepts in EV manufacturing
  • Laser welding innovations for battery and busbar applications
  • Inline measurement, detectors, and closed-loop process control for quality assurance
