Yury Tarakanov has a long experience within autonomous driving. After finishing his PhD in Applied Physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, Yury has joined Active Safety department at Volvo Cars. He has been involved in verification strategy development, software- and hardware in loop solutions, virtual verification tools and methods and multiple research projects within AD, in different roles such as senior CAE engineer, project lead, team manager and solution architect.

In 2020, Yury joined Viscando in a role of Business developer, with the aim of helping AV companies seize the opportunities and benefits of bias-free and accurate naturalistic data collection.

Viscando AB, a start-up from Gothenburg, Sweden, accelerates the transition to safer, more sustainable, and enjoyable mobility. We assist autonomous vehicle (AV) developers with ensuring safety of AVs in city, on motorway, and in restricted worksites. Using our patented, GDPR compliant infrastructure sensors OTUS3D, we collect accurate and bias-free naturalistic data on traffic movement and interactions, at a fraction of the cost of test vehicles. Leveraging on the collected data, we offer scenario catalogues, road user behavior and intention models, and human driving profiles in a broad spectrum of operational design domains. By sharing real-time traffic movement data via V2X or cloud, we extend perception of AVs beyond their own perception horizon. We have been providing cities with actionable insights on traffic safety for several years. This gave us an established expertise and a broad, growing partner network in Europe – which both enable cost- and time efficient data collection.
