Ralph Lauxmann

Senior Vice President Systems & Technology, Member of the Management Board, Chassis & Safety Division, Continental AG

Ralph Lauxmann was born in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1964. After graduating with an Mechanical engineering degree from the University of Stuttgart in 1994, Lauxmann joined the automotive business sector of Robert Bosch GmbH.

The mechanical engineer spent around 17 years working in various roles at Robert Bosch GmbH and Robert Bosch Engineering GmbH. During this time, he gained a wide range of automotive-related experience in areas such as powertrain, driver assistance and electronic brake systems. Lauxmann oversaw specific development projects for customers as well as generic product development projects. He is extremely well familiar in bringing new products from advanced engineering through to full production, and in product adaptation and applications. During his time at Bosch, Lauxmann filed numerous patent applications related to driver assistance systems and electronic stability control.

In 2011, Lauxmann moved to Munich, Germany, to work for Knorr-Bremse SfN GmbH, one of the world's leading manufacturers of brake systems for commercial vehicles. He spent nearly three years at the company as Head of Global Research & Development and Central Engineering. At that time, amongst others, he also headed the buildup of new international development sites in Hungary and India.

In December 2013, the expert in vehicle and road safety joined Continental as Head of Strategy Customer Programs Chassis Electronics in the Vehicle Dynamics business unit.

Since January 2015, Lauxmann is responsible for Systems & Technology of the Frankfurt-based Chassis & Safety division, and is a member of the Chassis & Safety Management Board. In this role, he reports directly to Frank Jourdan, Head of the Chassis & Safety division and Member of the Executive Board of Continental AG.

Systems & Technology (S&T) has the task of developing system architecture and functions as well as the advanced engineering of components, functions and systems in cooperation with the business units of the division. In system projects, S&T is in charge of primary project management and functions such as the concept and design of the systems as well as test, integration and verification. S&T also coordinates the divisional product strategy and, as part of this role, has the responsibility for finding new product ideas.

Lauxmann is married with three children. He is a keen sailor and active in motorsport.
He also enjoys skiing and playing tennis.
