Nigel graduated from Loughborough University in 1980 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering whilst completing an apprenticeship with Lucas Aerospace.
Joined Jaguar Cars in 1983 and 1989 joined the Research Dept. to work on the PROMETHEUS European collaborative project leading the collision avoidance demonstrations where he first started working on sensing systems including microwave radar.
This was followed by periods leading various EU Framework projects before becoming a Project Evaluator for the European Commission. After period leading research into active safety systems where Nigel oversaw the development of radar based blindspot monitoring.
He was then given the challenge to keep Land Rover as leaders in off road capability where sensors became necessary to continue developing the off road capability and so the return to radars, machine vision and lidars and the trade-offs necessary for Automotive.
