The EV industry is now on the verge of mass popularization. Severe competition is found among automotive OEMs and battery manufacturers for longer range, faster charging and discharging, longer lifetime, and sustainability. Innovation of battery designs is one of core drivers of this innovation. The last 5 years have witnessed unprecedented progress of battery designs, which are represented by cell-to-pack, cell-to-body, cell-to-chassis, structural batteries, etc. Minimalism is based on fewer parts for more space, competitive cost, and production efficiency. This, in turn, influenced the thermal interface, and then related materials.
